And I suppose he only accepts women, because when he initially renovated the house to be a dorm, he only had room/funds to set up one shared bathroom/shower area, plus an expanded laundry room, so he had planned to be offering his house as a men’s dorm or a women’s dorm, but not co-ed? If he has the ‘owner’s suite,’ he likely has his own bathroom and tub/shower, so having all female tenants isn’t an issue?
Have you seen the mess a bunch of girls can make ? one shower room is a lot easier to clean than a half dozen 😉 They do tend to do less damage than boys though so there’s a tradeoff
When I put up a house for rent the female property manager (I was going out of the area) said she would never rent to a group of young women because they would make a mess, but boys would keep things neat to try and impress their dates. I do not have opinion on this, but she had many years of experiences. In the end the rental has been to couples. This was over 30 years ago so things may have changed.
But… it’s a college town. Dorm, boarding house, whatever you want to call it, aren’t you more likely to get whiny, needy college students than other kinds of tenants?
