0115 – Mental Health Break

Is it just me, or does it feel like it takes too much effort to game some days?

And then even when you do get around to playing a game, it ends up making you feel worse than before? x.x

  1. Mood… Nuff said.

  2. For multiplayer games, whether the diversion is a good mental health pick-me-up depends just as much on who you play it with as on the game itself.

Of course, can always look at pictures or illustrations of foxxos for a safe bet on a mood lifter x3

  3. This is why I will always love playing a good old-fashioned metroidvania game. Want to grind hard for resources and upgrades to finally beat the next boss, have at it. Want to shut your brain off an explore aimlessly, knock yourself out. No matter what your mood is or what play-style you prefer, it’s all good fun.

  4. Well, a RTS in easy mode is perfect for two brainless hours. I miss playing Age of Empires/Mythology

  5. Honestly, I know that feeling.

  6. Every time I get tired of getting my ass beat in CoD or Battlefield, I turn to my old friend… whiskey. Can’t have mental health issues without brain cells.

  7. Looks like Zerda needs to ditch the XStationBoxTendo and discover the joys of retro-gaming on something like an Atari Flashback, or a Hyperkin RetroN3 (plays NES, Super NES, and Sega Genesis cartridges). No complicated controls, and no on-screen “murderdeathkills” — just run the little guy through the mazes, or shoot blocky pixelated aliens, until your paws go numb from holding the controller. 🙂

  8. It seems to me that all the games are trying too hard to be the ‘next biggest thing’. Sure, the graphics have gotten better, but the stories mostly haven’t kept up, just new faces doing the same old things. There are some that look good but you have to play so fast that I can’t handle it. I guess that’s why I don’t play a lot of them after I’ve seen them mentioned in a comic and then go watch someone play that one on youtube. I don’t play many anyway, I like the D&D type ones where you can explore dungeons and take your time doing it. If they’re going to make nice graphics, I’m going to stop and look at them for awhile 🙂

  9. My favourite game was and still is NeverWinter Nights. I like the way some servers have customized it so much it isn’t even the same game anymore, everything from Star Wars to Firefly to Zombieland and everything in between, plus you can decide if you want to play with other people and make an adventuring party to clear out a dungeon for fun and profit, or get into some palace intrigues without monsters, but I stil go back every once in awhile and play the original game just to try out new character types with no added things, it’s old but so am I 😛

  10. Only 699 words xD
